Duale Ovia and Alex-Adedipe is delighted to announce the successful completion of our role as legal and regulatory advisors to Natcom Development and Investment Limited (Natcom/NTEL) on the recently approved Spectrum Lease renewal and expansion agreement with MTN Nigeria Communications PLC (MTN Nigeria). As appointed legal consultants, we provided strategic guidance and regulatory advisory support throughout the project, ensuring compliance with all applicable frameworks and facilitating a seamless approval process.
The agreement, approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), involves the renewal of Natcom’s spectrum leases comprising 5MHz Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) in the 900MHz band and 10MHz FDD in the 1800MHz band, spanning 19 states for a two-year term effective 1 May 2025. Additionally, it includes the expansion of the leased spectrum to cover the remaining 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for a one-year term, effective 1 January 2025.
This milestone represents a significant advancement in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry, enhancing connectivity, expanding coverage, and improving service delivery to millions of users nationwide.
